Fro-Yo Cravings

Salut, mes belles!

How are you? ´Cause I´m doing great, haha.

As you probably have noticed, I´m in such good mood today. Maybe it´s because it´s the first “lazy” school week I´ve had in AGES! Homeworks are almost inexistent, as every single teacher is fighting against time to deliver all the results from our tests. Classes have been all about corrections! It´s been great 🙂

Anyhow – I think I should show you some of my recent results, as promised! Let´s see…

Physics: 89/100

Maths: 78/100

Literature: 82/100

Geography: 89/100

French: 91/100

Biology: 88/100

History: 100/100

There are still a few results missing, and those aren´t the final results, as they´re calculated through median calculus, but… Yeah. I suck at Maths, I know 😛

But just so you know, my results in Literature, Geography and History are the highest in my class. Tough, tough… Haha.

I´ll show you all my school report with my final grades as soon as it arrives. Ok?

Now, moving on to lighter news 😉

Here are the pics of my recent eats!

Let´s see where we stopped –

TUESDAY

Breakfast

DSCF2725

My last bar from Boston/NY trip! S-A-D!

DSCF2728

Glorious, obviously 😉

School Snack

DSCF2731

A mini-pear! It wasn´t ripe enough, though 😛

Lunch

DSCF2732

In the mix: lettuce, grated beets, heart-of-palms, crumbled ricotta, turkey breast slices and pineapple, with mustard sauce. Y-U-M!

Dinner

DSCF2736

At Pizza Hut, with friends and family at Aunt Renata´s b-day party…

DSCF2740

I ordered the “Pizza Salad Chicken” – a bed of lettuce, olives, red cabbage, tomato and grilled chicken slices over a thin pizza dough. Italian dressing on the side!

DSCF2738

I´ve had all the salad part, but I left all the pizza dough. It was already cold by the time I got to that part, anyhow. But the salad was lovely! I even added a little Italian sauce (~2 tbsp). An Iced Tea can on the side 🙂

WEDNESDAY (Hump-Day!)

Breakfast

DSCF2744

1 sliced apple with 1/2 container of plain non-fat yogurt

DSCF2746

Close-up version…

DSCF2747

What do y´all think? 🙂

School Snack

DSCF2748

Half an Oats N´Honey granola bar

Lunch

DSCF2749

Ok – I know it sounds crazy, but… I just wanted FRO-YO for lunch today! So I bought an apple to munch on before the big star… my beloved frozen yogurt!

DSCF2751

Unfortunately, they were outta natural yogurt today. I thought about giving up, but I decided to challenge myself and order a “Berries-Flavoured” one! It wasn´t as good as the other, but it definetely hit the spot 😉

DSCF2753

Perfection.

Dinner

DSCF2761

Slice of cooked cassava, sautéed spinach, cooked carrots and beets, a small slice of veggie quiche, slice of ricotta+spinach pie, steamed broccoli and heart-of-palms strings (didn´t have the sweet potato, it tasted pretty bad)

Gotta have my veggies! Haha.

Wish you all an amazing night and a fabulous Thursday, loves!

I´m off to see “Avatar” with Mom and Lelê now 🙂

See y´all!

XOXO

G.

Not-So-Often

Hello, blog-world!

Wow, it´s been a while. I know, I keep saying this, right?! My regular posts just don´t exist anymore, as you may have noticed. Life´s been busy!

Let me update you on a few things!

1- My test week is over. I already have some of the results!

2- I traveled on Friday and came back on Saturday. I spent both Saturday and Sunday at my Dad´s house, which explains the lack of posts. Oops.

3- Even though I had almost a week free, I´m exhausted. I haven´t slept decently since… the beggining of April. I´ve been spending lots of nights wide awake, and I just don´t know why. The only thing I know is that no sleep at night means a whole sleepy-mode day. Not so pleasant.

4- There were no new posts, but I made sure I was reading all of your blogs! I´d like to thank you all for the amazing comments I received, by the way. You´re all too sweet!

5- Today would be my grandfather´s 76th birthday. And I have mixed feelings about this. I spent the whole day thinking of him, and how great would be to still have him around. But I know he was suffering, so maybe it was for the best… I just don´t know. I feel a bit sad. Quiet. I miss him.

But I don´t mean to finish this post on a sad note. Here are some of my latest eats!

BREAKFAST

So, yeah. There are a few pics missing (since my “new” phone won´t download my new pics into my computer… WTH), but I promise I´ll do a post just for random delicious eats you´ve missed. Now, a few shots from last week:

Vegan Vegan

Hey, guys!

I´m loving life right now. Period 🙂

It´s the end of my exams, and an extended-holiday. Could it get any better?!

Hehe.

I started my Tuesday with the right foot:

DSCF2568

Cottage Cheese, a sliced apple and cinnamon combo. In a container!

DSCF2567

It was totally worth the close-up 🙂

DSCF2530.JPG

I ate the rest of my Cinnamon granola bar between the two exams

But the real celebration started right after my last test. I met my grandmother for lunch at a cool vegan restaurant I´ve always wanted to visit: Vegan Vegan.

DSCF2584

The menu

It was incredibly cozy inside. I was a bit shy about taking pictures from the restaurant´s tables while people were inside (and, believe me, this place was packed), but I succeded on taking a few shots 😉

Me and Grandma chose the Daily Dish – they had an optional one, as well. We could choose between two entrées: a miso soup with vegetables and an organic green salad, with soy mayo.

I chose the salad:

DSCF2576

Excuse my dumb face, please.

DSCF2575

This. was. good.

While Grandma had the soup:

DSCF2574

She gave me a taste. Believe me when I say it was approved 😉

The service was great! Even though we had to wait for a bit until a table was free, the food came quickly and our waitress was extremely kind and patient. YAY 🙂

The main dish was pure bliss:

DSCF2578

Chickpea Swiss Roll with Veggies and Almond Sauce, Pumpkin and Soy Cheese “Soufflé”, Organic Brown Rice with Gersal and Beet Carpaccio

WOW, right?! I was completely amazed. And it tasted as good as it looks 😉

DSCF2577

Grandma liked it, too 🙂

They even served us two Ginger Shots (without alcohol, of course) each! T´was delicious, too:

DSCF2580

Spicy… In a good way 🙂

DSCF2579

Cheers!

Food was great, and we were having a great time chatting. So Grandma suggested us to order some dessert – everything was vegan in there! Unfortunetely, we received some bad news: they were only serving a small number of dessert options, which were extremely limited and non-appealing to me. Since we hadn´t ordered anything to drink during the meal (because of the unexpected Ginger Shot), we decided to ask for juices. They had the most creative ones!

DSCF2582

My vitamin-packed dessert: a Passion Fruit and Ginger Juice!

Holy YUM. Can I get this recipe? ´Cause I was in juice heaven 😉

DSCF2581

À votre santé!

I loved it. In fact, we both did! And we can´t wait to go back 🙂

Next meal up was dinner – at my friend´s birthday dinner! It was lovely there, and even though it was in a pizza place, they had a salad and antipasti buffet, which I took advantage of 🙂

Plate #1 was packed with things I was dying to try:

DSCF2590

Seared Tuna, baby corn, ginger slices, aspargus, roasted pumpkin, steamed veggies, heart-of-palms slices, veggie quiche, garbanzo salad, curd, salmon salad and probably something else I can´t remember… Haha.

I couldn´t finish my plate, though… There were so many guests! I loved chatting with all of my friend´s friends. They were all too cute!

Then, a plate #2 was eaten at some point… But it was only a partly-filled plate, and it had mostly cherry tomatoes I had picked for a friend to eat. Besides, I had no time to finish it, as well. Oops.

But the party was definetely awesome. I made some good new friends, and I loved the fact that I was the oldest person invited. Having 12-year-old friends has its advantages 🙂

Me and Luisa slept over at Helena´s house (his grandfather´s… But still). We had a great time, but I took only a few minutes to fall asleep… I was exhausted!

We all woke up late the next morning. Breakfast was simple and easy – we were already thinking about lunch at the mall before watching a movie.

DSCF2598

Mango slices – YUM.

After breakfast, we showered and went to the mall. We bought tickets to “Date Night”´s 4 pm session and started looking for a place to eat. They both wanted to eat at Outback Steakhouse – I didn´t really like the idea, in the first place. But I went with them to the restaurant´s reception table, and we discovered it was packed. We´d have to wait for at least an hour. Luisa and Helena were very sad to leave :/

We managed to find a nice place, though. It was a clean and cute restaurant called “Doce Delícia” (which means “Sweet Deliciousness”).

My plate came fast:

DSCF2602

Green house salad with a heart-of-palms quiche. Absolutely delicious 🙂

DSCF2599

With a side of Peach Iced Tea

DSCF2600

Luisa with her half of Grilled Sirloin Cap and Piamontese Rice and Wood Sauce

DSCF2603

Helena with the other half – they shared!

The movie was lovely. I know it has received some bad reviews, but I adore funny love stories 🙂

After the movie, then, it was ice cream time:

DSCF2607

Ice Cream for them…

DSCF2605

And Fro-Yo for me!

DSCF2610

With pineapples, bananas and blueberries as toppings. Heaven!

I was so sad to say goodbye – we had an amazing time together! I loved getting to know Luisa better – she´s the sweetest!

When I got home, after hours of heavy traffic, I´ve had dinner (by 10:30 pm):

DSCF2614

Steamed beet, carrot, chayote and zuchinni slices with a slice of cottage cheese and veggies quiche

Yeah, I know… I´m obsessed with quiches! I know!

Hehe.

Overall, I had a terrific 48 hours. I need to get some sleep, though! I´ll be traveling to Catalão/GO on Friday, and I´ll have to be at the airport by 6 am! I´m excited, but this is going to be a short night.

I´ll see you soon, lovely people! Thanks, yet again, for your comments. They make my day!

XOXO

G.

Crazy Schedule

IT´S OVEEEEEEEER!

Phew. That was exhausting!

Wow, I don´t even know where to start.

First: I´m sorry I´ve been a real bad blogger. But the last week was hectic, I had thousands of things to study, and 2 or 3 exams per day! Pure craziness, believe me.

Anyhow – there´s a lot be be done, here! I need to update you all! Life´s been a little crazy as you probably noticed, but I feel amazing right now. Mission accomplished 🙂

Oh, and I promise that as soon as I get my grades I´ll share with y´all. Just so you know if it was worth the sacrifice, haha.

Let´s see… Where do I start?

Oh, yeah. The first meal of the day!

Here it goes, guys: a little sample of what I´ve been eating through the day:

Breakfasts:

DSCF2440

3 tbsp of CC with 1/2 crumbled granola bar

DSCF2569

Mix of cottage cheese in a container, sliced apple and a sprinkle of cinnamon (or two… Haha)

DSCF2457

Sliced green apple with a tbsp of CRS

DSCF2480.JPG

Sliced regular apple with a tbsp of Crunchy PB

DSCF2521.JPG

Sliced apple, a tbsp of crunchy PB and a juicy pear

Lunches:

DSCF2448

Grilled White Cheese on Whole Wheat Bread

DSCF2462

Falafel Sandwich: falafel balls, tabouli salad and hummus sauce on a flat bread (with Iced Matte Tea)… Easily one of the highlights of the week!

DSCF2485.JPG

Steamed cauliflower, baked sweet potato and squash, slice of veggie quiche

DSCF2535.JPG

Destroyed quiche slices (chicken and ricotta+spinach), steamed beets and cassava, a raw carrot and a side of tomato sauce

Snacks/Desserts:

DSCF2446

Fruit Salad

DSCF2489.JPG

Pineapple slices

DSCF2445

Oats N´Honey granola bar

DSCF2476.JPG

A new bar: “Nuts Only”. Chewy 🙂

DSCF2529.JPG

Another Nature Valley´s bar – cinnamon flavoured. Much better then I remembered!

DSCF2429

Apple

Dinners:

DSCF2417

Sardines+carrots on a whole wheat bread slice

DSCF2422

DSCF2425

Crunchy PB-filled slice

DSCF2453

Veggie Quiche, sliced cucumber, corn, carrot and sweet potato slices

DSCF2450

A side of black beans

DSCF2513.JPG

Steamed veggies, turkey patty, slice of veggie quiche and a side of pineapple

DSCF2536.JPG

At Outback Steakhouse! A Tilapia Filet with a side of steamed veggies. Didn´t know which sauce was this, so I didn´t use it.

WOW – that was long. And still I have so much to say and share! Haha.

It´s ok, though. These were only the highlights.

By the way – there´s another reason behind my disappearence. Somebody stole my phone!

Yep. While visiting South America´s biggest mall, I lost my phone. And the lady sitting near our table said she heard someone saying he/she had found a cellphone, and that he/she would give it back as soon as she could. No sign. Major fail =P

So I missed a few shots. You´ve probaly noticed the image improvement, though – I´ve been taking pics with Mom´s camera. A real one´s always better then a cellphone! It´s a pity I´m still blog-shy, so I only take pics when no one´s noticing. No big deal, right? Hehe.

I was so excited to tell you about the vegen restaurant I´ve been to today – it´s called “Vegan Vegan”. Too much information, apparently!

I guess I´ll just leave you with some final pics from our trip. It was definetely AH-MAZING 😉

DSCF2396

DSCF2401

Looking for Wi-Fi signal… Haha.

DSCF2413

The exact scene of the crime! Where I lost my phone – and where I tried my first smoothie! It was AH-MAZING – me and Mom shared a Banana Berry (Blackberry, Banana and Frozen Yogurt) and a Ginger Mango one (Mango, Ginger and Lemon Sorbet). YUMM-O!

Have a great night, lovelies! Oh, and thank you TONS for all the sweet comments. You´re all so lovely 🙂

XOXO

Hopi Hari-Themed

Hello, sweeties!

I know. It´s been a while!

I wanted to talk to you guys about some recent struggles/events I´ve been through… But let me spill the details from my trip before I can go “deeper”.

I woke up at 4:50 am sharp on Friday. We had a 6 am flight to catch, so we should be at the airport by 5:30 am… Too darn early, I know!

We were extremely excited, but extremely tired, too. We all tried to make happy faces, though:

DSCF2213

Lelê was definetely awake.

DSCF2211

FYI – “azul” means blue 🙂

Before boarding, we stopped at the cafeteria. Mom imagined they´d serve food at the plane, so we only bought some snacks.

DSC02655

I ordered a fresh orange juice – tasted awful. I don´t know why – maybe it wasn´t really fresh? I drank only about 1/4 of it :/

DSCF2214

Don´t worry – that´s not really Coke. It´s iced tea 😉

We took a bus to get into the airplane…

DSCF2216

DSCF2215

Lelê was definetely having fun 🙂

Then, we finally boarded.

DSCF2220

Yup – Lelê slept.

The flight was quite pleasing – I didn´t even see the time passing. I finished reading a book I had to read for school (in french) and chatted with my sister Bruna for a while. No big deal!

Guess what they served us at the airplane?

DSC02656

Orange juice! How weird is that?

This one was a lot tastier, though – it has “Homemade Orange” written all over 🙂

Unfortunately, I only drank about a 1/4 – I had no time to finish, since we were landing! Oh, well.

We arrived at the hotel safely. We had the whole Continental Breakfast wating for us – we felt really welcomed 😉

DSC02657

Melon and pineapple chunks

DSC02658

Plus an apple

DSC02661

And a mug of plain yogurt with 1 1/2 tbsp of granola…

DSC02663

That tasted like crap. Eww. Lots of leftovers.

After breakfast, we were headed to Hopi Hari Park. YAY!

DSCF2228

Outside

DSCF2229

Inside

About the time we´ve spent at the park – I´m absolutely speechless. I´ll let the photos speak for themselves:

(Some of us) eventualy broke for lunch:

DSC02664

I did. Delicious italian bruschettas!

DSC02666

They didn´t stand a chance 😉

“Some of us” decided not to have a real meal, though:

DSCF2312

DSCF2333

Mainly sweet stuff.

Anyhow – it was an amazing experience. I even made a tattoo!

DSCF2352

Leaving the “happiest place in Brazil”:

DSCF2358

One word: F-U-N.

We were pretty exhausted when we got back to the hotel. Lelê took a quick bath and slept for the whole night. I wanted to do the same, but Mom said I should have a real bath and decent food before calling it a day. We took advantage of the the hotel service 🙂

DSC02671

Grilled Chicken Breast with mustard sauce and steamed veggies (carrots, green beans, cauliflower)

DSC02672

Black bean “soup” (actually made with kidney beans – anyhow..)

DSC02673

And my beloved fresh OJ! Gotta have my Vitamin C somehow 😉

Absolutely delicious.

The rest of the day was spent lazily… We had an early night!

Oh, wow. That was pretty long!

I guess I´ll continue my recap later… Test week starts tomorrow!

Wish me luck, guys!

XOXO

I´ll talk to you guys later – as I said before, I have an early flight to catch 😉

2nd Day Of Laziness

Hello, lovely people!

So… All schools were closed today (even though the sun appeared at some point)!

Which, as you may have guessed, gave me a 2nd day of pure laziness.

Streets were completely covered in mud and water. The rain would go and come. Fortunately, I managed to squeeze a walk in my day 🙂

But let´s take one step at a time.

Yesterday´s afternoon/night was pretty low-key – we watched some movies, grabbed some popcorn, laughed a bit. It was cool 🙂

DSCF2205

Lelê, grabbing some more snacks

DSCF2206

Lelê and Nete, our housekeeper (who made her that bowl of popcorn)

DSCF2210

Mom and Lelê, dancing around (she´s going to kill me for posting that)

As I said – pretty low-key 😉

Dinner was served around 7pm. I had to take a break from “Coco Avant Chanel”, the movie me and my Mom were watching, so we could all eat together. I wasn´t really hungry, but since everyone was there… I had to go with the flow.

DSC02629

Steamed cauliflower, beet slices, small piece of grilled chicken, tomato slices, baked sweet potato, chickpea salad (with grated carrots)

Today, I woke up by 9 am – a personal record. I kept breakfast simple:

DSC02631

1/2 container of plain non-fat yogurt with 3/4 of an apple

Lunch was much more exciting, though. I went to a Vegetarian restaurant for the first time!

I met my Mom and my Stepfather for lunch at around 1 pm. We were all starving by then. I ordered the “Summer-y Plate”.

DSC02633

Steamed veggies (cauliflower, broccoli and carrot), a “simple” salad (alfafa sprouts, lettuce, tomato and a yogurt sauce) and vegetarian bruschettas

DSC02635

With a side of Garlic Bean “soup”

DSC02636

And a fresh and unsweetened glass of orange juice

It was DIVINE. I left the restaurant happy and completely full.

I went for a walk with Mom after lunch. She had to run a few errands, I had nothing better to do… So I decided to help her. She definetely needed that help, since she´s pregnant 😉

We got back home around 4pm. I was so tired I decided to take a nap – epic fail!

I put my PJs on, turned off the lights… but I simply couldn´t fall asleep. Oh, well. This is me 😛

I “woke up” (got up and gave up) by 6pm. A little while later, I discovered dinner was ready. Dinner…? Ahn?

DSC02638

Steamed cauliflower, chickpea salad, small baked sweet potato, tomato slices and a small piece of grilled chicken

I guess I was too sleepy to think about food 😉

Anyhow… I guess that´s all I have for now.

I´ll probably go to school tomorrow… I´ll let you guys know, anyway.

See y´all soon!

XOXO

G.
